About Mama Lee

Authentic Homestyle Taiwanese food.

Mama Lee is one of the taiwanese restaurants listed in Bayside, New York. The business is registered at 213-12 48th Ave, Bayside, NY 11364; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as chinese restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Bayside; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

No hours are on file. If you plan a visit, phone first or check the Google Maps link on this page for the latest times. The listed phone number is (718) 767-8680. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is mamaleerestaurant.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 326 reviews, which is a strong result for a taiwanese restaurant in Bayside and suggests consistent service.

Bayside is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Bayside is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Worst food ever. Worst then Chinese take out or Panda Express. All 4 dish taste the same . Super salty. No service at all here. Look at all the salt of the pork chop. I don’t know how this place can get 4.5 star reviews with 300 people write. If you want kidney problems, this is your place.

Mama Lee has reopened! I’m soooo happy! Super glad that this neighborhood Taiwanese gem is back! Ordered takeout and everything is super yummy and tastes like a Taiwanese homemade meal: braised beef, fried fish, three cup chicken, pork and celery stirfry. Mama lee was so nice and even gave me some extra bok choy and tea eggs (so yummy) on the house! When you go to mama lee’s, you feel like you’re going to your favorite auntie’s house 😊

Delicious Taiwanese food in Bayside! We haven’t been here for several years, but found out they were open again so we got take out. They make all of the classic dishes and provide a lot of ingredients. We got the Beef Noodle Soup, Braised Pork over rice and the 3 Cup Chicken to share with 3 people. They included rice and radish soup complimentary with our meal. Couldn’t even finish it all, so full! They have a few tables to dine in as well. Want to go back to eat the food fresh at the restaurant again. The prices went up a bit from before. Definitely recommended!

I had a very disappointing experience at this Taiwanese bento shop. The food was mostly salty but lacked real flavor. The fried items were overcooked and tasted burnt. The combo meal was very expensive, yet it only came with about half a bowl of rice, which felt unreasonable for the price. The stir-fried dishes were also disappointing β€” there was no β€œwok hei” at all. Everything tasted heavily thickened with sauce instead of properly stir-fried. It did not feel fresh or authentic. On top of that, there appeared to be only one person cooking and one person handling the register, so the wait time was extremely long. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. It is overpriced, slow, and the quality does not justify the cost.

MamaLee is back in Bayside! So glad to have her back! We were regulars before the move and missed her authentic Taiwanese cooking and warm hospitality. * Portions: Huge and very satisfying. * Eco-Friendly: Uses paper containers instead of plastic. * Pro Tip: It gets busy, so order ahead to skip the wait! Highly recommend for great food and a welcoming atmosphere.
